The NSS Unit of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce and the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, organised an interactive session on the Union Budget 2026–27 on 10 February 2026. The programme was specially designed for first-year students of Commerce and Journalism to familiarise them with the key provisions of the budget and its broader economic and social implications.
Mr. Shivendra Pratap Singh, Assistant Professor and Proctor, LPCPS, served as one of the keynote speakers. He explained the major changes in taxation, allocations for infrastructure, education and digital initiatives, and highlighted how budgetary priorities influence business decisions, employment generation and financial markets. Dr. Neeraj Singh, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, delivered the second keynote address, focusing on the role of media in budget reporting. He discussed how budget announcements are interpreted, framed and communicated to the public, and emphasised the importance of fact-based, responsible journalism.
The session included a question–answer segment in which students raised queries on fiscal deficit, subsidies, start-up incentives and the impact of budget proposals on youth and higher education. The programme helped students connect classroom concepts with contemporary policy developments and encouraged them to critically analyse the national budget as informed citizens.
