The NSS unit of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies (LPCPS) celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June 2025 at the college campus, Vinamra Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The programme was organised to sensitise students about the urgent need to protect and conserve the environment.
The session was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Laxmi Shankar Awasthi, Dean Academics, LPCPS. In his address he explained the significance of World Environment Day and highlighted major environmental challenges such as pollution, climate change, loss of biodiversity and excessive use of plastic. He emphasised the message “One Nation, One Mission – End Plastic Pollution” and motivated students to reduce single-use plastic, adopt sustainable habits and act as responsible citizens.
After the talk, students along with Dean Academics participated in a plantation activity in the college premises. Saplings were planted and existing plants were watered to reinforce the importance of increasing green cover and maintaining cleanliness. Students also took a pledge to keep the campus polythene-free and to spread awareness in their neighbourhoods.
The event successfully encouraged participants to reflect on their everyday actions and strengthened the commitment of the NSS volunteers of LPCPS towards environmental protection and sustainable living.
