On 30 January 2025, the Department of Commerce of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies (LPCPS), Vinamra Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, organised a SMART Investor Awareness Programme in collaboration with SEBI and BSE. The session, conducted in one of the senior commerce classrooms of LPCPS, was attended by 53 students from B.Com and BBA programmes.

The resource person explained the role of SEBI in regulating the securities market and highlighted the importance of becoming a “SMART” investor—well informed, vigilant and responsible. Students were sensitised about basic concepts such as risk–return trade-off, diversification, long-term investing and the dangers of unregulated schemes and Ponzi offers. The speaker also demonstrated how to verify market intermediaries, read offer documents carefully and use official websites and mobile applications to obtain authentic information.

Special emphasis was laid on investor rights and grievance-redressal mechanisms, including SEBI’s toll-free helplines and online complaint portals. Through real-life examples and an interactive question–answer session, students were encouraged to develop disciplined saving and investment habits at an early age. The programme proved highly informative and motivated the participants to act as responsible and aware investors in the future.
