Poshan Pakhwada 2025

Poshan Pakhwada 2025 was observed nationwide from 8 April to 22 April as part of the Government of India’s “Poshan Abhiyaan”, implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with various ministries and state governments. The campaign focuses on improving the nutritional status of children and women, promoting maternal and child nutrition, encouraging the use of digital nutrition trackers and addressing childhood obesity.

Under this initiative, the NSS Unit of Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies (LPCPS) organised a community outreach programme on 17 April 2025 in the villages Sallahimau and Dallookhera, District Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (226501). A group of 14 NSS student volunteers, led by Dr. Ashish Kaushal, Associate Professor and NSS Coordinator, and Mr. Chetan Khanna, Assistant Professor and NSS Coordinator, visited households and interacted with children and mothers.

The volunteers explained the importance of balanced diets, safe drinking water, hygiene, immunisation and adequate nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life through charts and posters. To reinforce the message of healthy eating, bananas and biscuit packets were distributed among the children. The activity helped sensitise the village community towards better nutrition practices and strengthened the spirit of social responsibility among LPCPS students.
